Spreading the Word:

You can make a difference!

Safe Place for Newborns grows when concerned citizens take word about this life-saving program into the community.

Do you want to help with spreading the word? Contact the Safe Place for Newborns office and ask for a Community Action Kit. This can help get you started.  The kit includes posters, brochures, and other items that you may find helpful.

A few other ideas:

  • Posters and Brochures - Safe Place for Newborns has new posters and brochures available.  Contact us, and we will ship you as many as you would like for distribution in your community.
  • Public Service Announcement - Safe Place for Newborns has a television and radio Public Service Announcement.  Take one to you community TV and radio station and request air time.  Contact Safe Place for Newborns to obtain a copy.
  • How about sponsoring a Press Conference to raise community awareness about the Safe Place for Newborns program?  We have a kit available - complete with sample invitations, agendas, and Press Releases.  Contact Safe Place for Newborns to request a Press Conference kit.
  • Consider doing a presentation on Safe Place for Newborns for a class project.
  • Run a Safe Place for Newborns information table at local health fairs.
  • Take Safe Place for Newborns materials to the churches in your community.
  • Take Safe Place for Newborns materials to sports arenas, and other areas where young people may spend free time.

Do you have any ideas for us?  Any place you think we should send our literature, or that might be willing to help with spreading the word?  Please take a moment to contact us with any thoughts you have.  We are always looking for good ideas.

Funding:

No funds were appropriated with the Minnesota Safe Place for Newborns legislation.  Therefore, we are working to raise funds to continue our community education campaign.  As you know, legislation without education is ineffective.  This life-saving program does little good if those who would have need of it do not know if its existence.

Safe Place for Newborns would like to thank the people who have partnered with us to continue this life-saving work.  We have been the grateful recipients of much generosity.  We quite literally couldn't do it without you!

Would you like to get involved through helping us with our fundraising efforts?  Here are a few ways you can do so:

  • Matching gift program: Many companies have matching gift programs for their employees - they match the donations their employees make to charitable organizations.  Does your company have a Matching Grant program?
  • Fundraisers: Civic, church, and neighborhood groups have had fundraisers to benefit the work of Safe Place for Newborns. From garage sales to beautiful dinners, we have been so touched by the hard work and dedication people have shown to this work.  How about you and a few friends getting together to consider if you might want to hold a fundraiser for Safe Place for Newborns?
  • Grants: Are you aware of any Foundations to which Safe Place for Newborns can apply for a grant?  If so, would you contact us with the name and address of the Foundation?  If you know the name of a contact for us at the Foundation, that would be great as well.
  • Donation:  Would you like to join in the effort by making a contribution to Safe Place for Newborns?  If so, your donation can be sent to:  Safe Place for Newborns, 120 S 6th St., Suite 1150, Minneapolis, MN  55402.

If you would like to tackle any of the above, we will be glad to work with you, just contact us and we'll do whatever we can do to help out!

Gifts in Kind:

Here are a few items we need for our office.  If you have any that you would like to donate, would you contact us?  We would greatly appreciate it!

  • TV\VCR  combo

  • Copier

  • Laptop

  • Desktop printer
